Job description

The Faith Formation Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing parish faith formation programs for children, youth, adults, and families. This position supports the mission of the parish by fostering spiritual growth, strengthening Catholic identity, and providing opportunities for parishioners to encounter Christ through education, prayer, sacramental preparation, and community engagement.
The Faith Formation Coordinator works collaboratively with the Pastor/Pastoral Leader, parish staff, catechists, volunteers, families, and parish ministries to provide effective and faithful formation opportunities consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church and the mission of the parish.
Essential Responsibilities:
Faith Formation Program Leadership
  • Coordinate and oversee parish religious education programs for children, youth, and families.
  • Develop and implement faith formation opportunities that support lifelong discipleship.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with diocesan expectations and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Coordinate sacramental preparation programs, including First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
  • Assist in developing opportunities for adult faith formation and ongoing spiritual growth.
Catechist and Volunteer Support
  • Recruit, train, support, and appreciate catechists and faith formation volunteers.
  • Provide resources, guidance, and ongoing formation opportunities for volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
Family and Parish Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with families and encourage active participation in parish life.
