Job description

Marketing Statement:
Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, designs, markets and underwrites commercial property/casualty and professional liability insurance products for select industries. We have been in operation since 1962 and are nationally recognized as a member of Ward's Top 50 and rated A++ by A.M.Best.
We are looking for an Underwriting Manager to join our Commercial Underwriting team!
Summary:
Supervises the largest, most complex elements of the organization's insurance underwriting activities and staff by maintaining direct involvement in resolving the most complex underwriting challenges.
A typical day will include the following:
  • Provides leadership establishing, implementing and continually improving organizational underwriting guidelines and supervisory practices consistent with regulatory requirements, standards, industry best practices and company needs.
  • Provides supervision and oversight of day-to-day activities and operations of the underwriting group with full authority for personnel actions and performance management responsibilities consistent with that of lower management.
  • Supervises and assists staff in performing the organization's most challenging, critical underwriting services to achieve established underwriting performance goals and key service indicators.
  • Mentors and develops underwriting staff regarding the roles, responsibilities and practices within the department.
  • Works with management on assigned production plans and objectives on marketing and underwriting level.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is strongly Preferred
  • 10 years of commercial package underwriting experience
  • Two to four years of supervisory experience preferred
