Job description

#jobalert | DIRECT HIRE | TERRITORY MANAGER, BRANCH OPERATIONS | Metro Detroit

Our client is a nationally recognized manufacturer and installer of outdoor structures โ€” sheds, play sets, studios, and gazebos โ€” sold through partnerships with major national home improvement retailers. Founded 50 years ago, the company has grown into one of the largest players in its category, running a nationwide network of local branches that keep product moving, contractors trained, and retail partner stores stocked and staffed with accurate displays. This branch, based in the Detroit metro area, is looking for someone to take ownership of daily production output, subcontractor crews, and store relationships across its territory. This is a hands-on operations leadership role, not a desk job and not an outside sales role.

  • Anticipated $75Kโ€“$85K base, based on experience
  • Bonus structure in addition to base pay
  • Company vehicle provided
  • Full suite of benefits: Health/Dental/Vision, Life insurance, 401(k), Paid Time Off
  • Take-home tablet for after-hours/off-site flexibility

Overview:

  • Own the daily production flow of outdoor structures moving out to installation crews on schedule, every day
  • Recruit, train, and manage a reliable bench of subcontracted installation crews, holding them to quality and safety standards
  • Handle customer service escalations directly, including calls where customers are frustrated, and drive them to resolution
  • Run quarterly store visits across the territory โ€” training store staff, auditing displays, and inspecting completed installations
  • Manage two direct reports and the day-to-day functioning of the branch
  • Shift focus seasonally: heavier production management in peak season, heavier store/training/display work in the slow season

Preferred Skills/Experiences:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2-4 years managing employees and/or subcontractors in construction, building materials, manufacturing, or home services
  • Experience managing 1099/subcontractor relationships specifically
  • Hands-on knowledge of construction/building materials (wood working, building products)
  • Forklift certification or experience
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, inventory control, and P&L basics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills

KEYWORDS: territory manager, operations manager, branch manager, subcontractor management, 1099 contractor management, construction operations, building materials, home improvement retail, installation management, retail store operations, customer service management, inventory control, warehouse operations, forklift certified, P&L management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, quality control, vendor management, field operations, retail account management, contractor recruiting, outdoor structures
