Overview

The Principle Application Developer serves as a technical leader responsible for the planning, design, development, integration, and modernization of software solutions that support RPS Binding and Brokerage operations. This role partners closely with business leaders, product managers, architects, brokerage operations, and digital marketplace stakeholders to deliver scalable technology platforms that enhance submission processing, carrier connectivity, quoting, binding, policy administration, and client service capabilities.

The position provides deep technical expertise across legacy platforms while driving innovation, operational excellence, and digital transformation initiatives that support RPS's strategic growth objectives.

This role is recognized as a senior technical expert and strategic contributor whose decisions influence technology standards, digital capabilities, operational efficiency, and the future technology direction of RPS Binding & Brokerage. The individual is expected to shape technology strategy while delivering measurable business value across underwriting, brokerage, and market-facing platforms.


How you'll make an impact
  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications supporting brokerage, binding authority, and underwriting operations.
  • Develop technology solutions that streamline the insurance lifecycle, including submission intake, quote management, carrier integration, policy issuance, and client servicing workflows.
  • Drive modernization of legacy and middleware platforms while enabling cloud-based and API-driven capabilities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Establish development standards, technical roadmaps, and operational plans for critical application portfolios.
  • Lead system integration efforts across agency management, carrier, underwriting, document management, and data platforms.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex projects involving workflow automation, AI-enabled data processing, analytics, and digital marketplace capabilities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve high-impact production issues affecting business operations.
  • Partner with product management and business leadership to prioritize enhancements and technology investments.
  • Mentor development teams and promote engineering best practices, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate technical strategy, project status, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of software engineering, application development, or systems integration experience.
  • Proven experience designing and developing enterprise-scale software solutions.
  • Strong expertise in application architecture, system integration, and database design.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, middleware technologies, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technology initiatives from concept through production.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting insurance, brokerage, underwriting, policy administration, or financial services platforms.
