What are some common challenges faced by Insurance Program Managers, and how can they be addressed?

Insurance Program Managers often encounter challenges such as balancing regulatory compliance with client needs, coordinating between multiple stakeholders, and adapting to changes in industry regulations. To address these, it is important to stay current with regulatory updates, foster strong communication channels among internal teams and external partners, and develop robust project management practices. Building relationships with underwriters, brokers, and clients can also help streamline processes and resolve issues efficiently.

Familiarity with insurance management software, regulatory compliance systems, and project management tools is often required, and certifications like CPCU or ARM are advantageous. Exceptional leadership, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills and qualifications are crucial to effectively oversee insurance programs, ensure compliance, minimize risk, and deliver value to clients and stakeholders.

Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and strategic People Program Manager to serve as the engine behind our global Talent strategy. This is a unique opportunity for a high-velocity HR practitioner to bridge the gap between Talent Management design and global execution.

You will thrive at the intersection of operational excellence and organizational design, specializing in translating high-level strategy into scalable, global programs. As both the architect and the project lead, you will design, build, and deploy the tools and frameworks that allow our people to do their best work. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of critical programs, from Performance Reviews and Engagement Surveys to Job Architecture and Data Analytics, ensuring they are scalable, data-driven, and seamlessly integrated into the fabric of our global organization.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership:
    • Drive the development and evolution of company-wide Job Architecture, including leveling, competencies, and career pathing to support a growing global workforce
    • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of critical programs including Performance Reviews (goal setting, mid-year, and year-end), Rewards and Recognition, and Employee Engagement strategy
    • Systematically integrate our Mission, Vision, and Values into the employee journey from performance competencies to recognition and exit insights
  • Strategic Execution & Change Management:
    • Design and implement strategies to ensure smooth adoption of new programs; Develop clear, concise communications and training materials that empower and enable key stakeholders
    • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders to create feedback loops that ensure alignment and buy-in on global initiatives
    • Lead ad-hoc efforts such as internal mobility frameworks, global policy implementation, and the rollout of new employee-facing resources
  • Data Insights & System Optimization:
    • Collect and interpret talent data to measure program impact; build dashboards tracking turnover, promotion rates, and performance distribution to provide actionable insights
    • Act as the SME for HR processes and respective HR technology (e.g., Workday, ADP, Survey platforms), identifying opportunities for automation to improve the employee experience
  • Project Governance
    • Develop comprehensive project plans defining scope, resource allocation, and success metrics
    • Proactively identify and solve for program dependencies and challenges, moving seamlessly from high-level strategy to execution
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years in HR with a heavy emphasis on Program/Project Management. Experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or Generalist is highly preferred
  • The Hybrid Mindset: A proven track record of managing large-scale, cross-functional HR projects in a high-growth technology environment
  • Technical Fluency: Demonstrated experience with HRIS and Employee Survey platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, CultureAmp). Advanced analytical skills are a must
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to translate complex processes into simple, persuasive narratives for both executives and employees. Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, build consensus, and drive results
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field
  • Location: Ability to work onsite 3 days a week (Mon, Tue, Thu) in Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA
  • Ability to travel as needed

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $130,000-135,000 annually + bonus depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including 401(k) match, medical, dental and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave; EAP, other wellbeing resources; and much more.
