Overview

Physicians Mutual is seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Life Product Management to lead our life insurance product portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Product Management, this leader will oversee product strategy, product development, profitability and performance while leading a team of product management professionals.

This role partners closely with Marketing, Distribution, Finance, Underwriting and Executive Leadership to identify growth opportunities, enhance existing products and develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the management of the life insurance product portfolio, including strategy, product development and pricing.
  • Identify market opportunities and drive new product development and product enhancements.
  • Monitor product performance, profitability, sales results, persistency, mortality, expenses and other key metrics.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for strategic product initiatives.
  • Partner cross-functionally to support product launches, regulatory filings and distribution initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging market trends, competitive activity and customer insights to guide product strategy.
  • Lead and develop a team of product management professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and innovation.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting and long-term business growth objectives.

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Economics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) with current continuing education requirements.
  • Current life insurance product management experience.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in life insurance product management, actuarial or related insurance roles.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance product design, pricing, profitability management and regulatory requirements.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting independent brokerage and direct-to-consumer distribution channels.
  • Proven success leading product strategy and cross-functional initiatives in a complex insurance environment.
