The North America Head of Property UAs is accountable for the strategic oversight and operational leadership of all Underwriting Analysts activity supporting our property line of business. This highly visible role will report to the Property COO and oversee the organization, performance, and continuous improvement of UA teams across North America. The ideal candidate will blend deep property insurance knowledge with proven experience in managing large, geographically dispersed operations, leading change, and partnering closely with senior underwriting leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic vision and operational framework for the property UA function, ensuring teams deliver high-quality, timely, and compliant support to underwriting and related property business units.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and performance management of Property UAs throughout North America, fostering a culture of accountability, customer service, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with senior underwriting, operations, and technology leaders to optimize UA processes, ensure standardization, and drive efficiency, scalability, and best practices region-wide.
  • Define and monitor performance metrics, service level agreements (SLAs), and qualitative standards for UA support; implement dashboards and reporting to track productivity, turnaround times, and quality.
  • Lead transformation, automation, or workflow reengineering initiatives targeted at improving the UA function's productivity and value to underwriters and brokers.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for complex UA operational issues, resolving conflicts and facilitating cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Ensure compliance of all UA processes and outputs with company policies, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, technology innovations, and regulatory changes impacting property insurance operations and underwriting support.
  • Engage with underwriting, claims, IT, and other departments to support seamless property business operations and strategic objectives.
  • Participate as a key leader in property divisional planning, budgeting, and special initiatives.
  • Represent the UA function as a subject matter authority to executive leadership, client meetings, and industry forums as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Operations Management, or related field (Master's or advanced certification preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial property insurance operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large or multi-location support teams (Underwriting Analyst or comparable function experience required).
  • Demonstrated success managing, coaching, and developing high-performing operational teams for underwriting or insurance business units.
  • Deep understanding of property insurance underwriting processes, systems, compliance requirements, and service standards.
  • Proven expertise in process improvement, transformation, and change management (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar certification preferred).
  • Advanced communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills; comfortable navigating complex environments and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with experience in metrics-driven performance management.
  • Familiarity with insurance technology platforms, workflow automation, and digital enablement.
  • High level of professionalism, ethical integrity, and a commitment to operational excellence.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $130,000-$164,000
