The Area Operations Manager (AOM) is a dynamic guidance role responsible for inspiring and guiding our Plant Managers and associates in achieving excellence in day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety, compliance, capital expenditures, and budgeting within a defined area. The AOM actively identifies and promotes operational programs and optimal practices that enhance the customer experience, improve efficiencies, and optimize costs across the cylinder supply chain. This role collaborates effectively with regional and divisional guides, subject matter experts (SMEs), and peers to identify and implement training and development initiatives that foster our plants' ability to meet established performance metrics.

  • Provide supportive guidance to production facilities within your assigned area, facilitating training, mentorship, and development to foster high retention and alignment with company policies.

  • Analyze key performance indicators (labor plans, overtime, fulfillment data) and utilize critical thinking to resolve manufacturing, supply chain, and maintenance operational needs while maximizing cost efficiencies. Bring an in-depth understanding of industry business and accounting concepts, including ROI, P&L statements, balance sheets, and margin responsibilities.

  • Maintain transparent, proactive, and frequent communication throughout the District to articulate the "why" behind initiatives. Build alignment across cross-functional teams using exceptional interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and the ability to deliver impactful oral and written presentations to all levels of management.

  • Partner with Regional and Division Safety guidance to promote a deeply rooted culture of safety. Facilitate the Airgas Incident Review Committee, conduct regular facility visits, and foster strict compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA, DHS, and state regulations.

  • Coordinate equipment bidding, vendor compliance, and project management while collaborating with the Cylinder Asset Manager to maintain proper cylinder supply. Coordinate and support regional initiatives such as plant efficiency audits, Industrial Gas Manual audits, 5S programs, and continuous improvement projects.

  • Develop, implement, and revise standard operational practices (SOPs) while sharing optimal practices across the region. Bring agility, resilience, a change-oriented mindset, and a focus on timely execution to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving market landscape.
