Job description

Bookkeeper & Office Manager

Staff One Recruiting is conducting a new-hire search for an established organization in the Chicagoland area seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Office Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper, Senior Bookkeeper, or hands-on accounting professional ready to take greater ownership within a small-business environment.

You do not need previous Office Manager experience. If you have strong bookkeeping expertise, are highly organized, and have the aptitude to manage broader office responsibilities, we encourage you to apply.

Compensation: $65,000–$70,000 annually
New-Hire Bonus: **$500 after 30 days **
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Employment: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: On-Site

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage AP/AR, payroll, account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end close
  • Manage payroll administration using QuickBooks Online Payroll
  • Identify, research, and resolve bookkeeping/accounting discrepancies
  • Support employee onboarding, benefits, PTO, 401(k), personnel records, and workers' compensation
  • Coordinate vendors, insurance, office systems, supplies, and equipment
  • Support day-to-day office operations and work directly with company leadership
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or comparable hands-on accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Payroll
  • Strong experience with AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to independently investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Experience

Experience in a small-business environment where bookkeeping or accounting responsibilities overlap with payroll, HR, vendors, and office administration is highly valued. Experience working directly with an owner, CPA, or tax professional is a plus.
