Job description

Access Servicesisย seekingย to hire a high-energy and self-motivated Mobileย Crisisย Internto join ourMontgomery County Mobile Crisis team,with an office based out of Plymouth Meeting, PA.ย 

Montgomery County Mobile Crisis offers 24/7 support to people of all ages inย difficult times. Individuals in crisis can speak with a counselorย regardingย mental health, addiction, trauma, etc., either by phone/video or in-person in their homes or communities.ย 

As aย Mobileย Crisisย Intern, you will have the opportunity to sit and be present with people on some of the hardest days of their lives. You will be expected to work alongside teammates, supportingย individualย in crisis while alsoย maintainingย a supportive and growth focused team dynamic. Our teamย seeksย to continually learn and grow together.ย 

Crisis response work isย anย excellent, diversifiedย experience. You will meet people from allย walks of lifeย and have a chance to make a real impactย inย critical moments. You will experience the value of partnership with various providers, emergency services, schools, and teammates to support individuals and communities in times of crisis.ย You will gain experience in crisisย expertise,ย documentation,ย and risk assessment.ย ย 

Internship Hours:ย 

  • A minimum ofย 20ย hours/weekly is preferred; available internship hours range from 7am -10pm, 7 days a week.ย 

Requirements

Qualifications of a Mobile Crisis Intern:ย 

  • Working on aย Master'sย degree in a related field such as psychology, social work, etc. (required). Must already have their Bachelor's.ย 
  • Being humble, adaptable, empathetic, and curiousย 
  • Ability to think critically and engage with othersย 
  • Some prior work or internship experience related to mental health (strongly preferred)ย 
  • Intern will be expected to driver an agency vehicleย ย 
  • Valid driver's license with 2+ years of driving experience, reliable vehicle, and adequate car insurance (required)ย 
  • No Driver's License suspensions in the lastย 48 monthsย 

Key Responsibilities ofย aย Mobileย Crisisย Intern:ย 

  • Provide immediate access to "hands-on" crisis support through phone counseling and mobile in-person crisis intervention.ย 
  • Provide rapid and effective assessment, support, hospitalization (when necessary), linkage to community resources, crisis prevention planning, and follow up.ย 
  • Develop and write action plansย in a timely mannerย with clear and measurable outcomes.ย 
  • Participate in assertive outreach to individualsย identifiedย to be high users of crisis services.ย 
  • Complete progress notes andย requiredย documentationย in a timely mannerย forย each individualย served.ย 
  • Being able to engage an array of people, learning risk assessments, safety planning, and other resources in the county.ย 

Required Transportation:ย ย 

  • A valid US driver's license for at least two years, not including time with permit.ย 
  • No serious traffic convictions within the past three years.ย ย (Serious convictions include, but are not limited to, DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of anย accident,ย  orย three or more traffic violations and/or at-fault accidents within that period.)ย 
  • Access to a reliable vehicle during work hours.ย ย Vehicleย must have valid registration and inspection stickers.ย 
  • Valid auto insurance. You will be asked to provide proof that you are a covered driver on the policy.ย 

Required Clearances, to be completed before first day of internship, including:ย ย 

  • FBI Clearanceย 
  • DMV Driving History Reportย 
  • PA Criminal Clearanceย 
  • Child Abuse Clearanceย 

* Detailed instructions and guidanceย regardingย the clearance process will be provided directly by Human Resources upon selection. *ย 

Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands:ย ย ย 

  • Work in program sites and the community routinely providing support to clients andย useย knowledge of mental health systems in the county to connect people with proper support.ย ย 
  • Workย in a standard office environment.ย ย ย 
  • Utilize desktop computer equipment daily.ย ย ย 
  • Able to lift or move items associated with sedentary work and light work (exert up to 20 lbs.)ย ย ย
