Job description

a construction and litigation law firm is searching for a full-time attorney. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of legal experience and a strong understanding of construction or commercial law. The firm works with a variety of large and small businesses and needs a candidate that is capable of supporting the multiple areas of practice that vary in both size and complexity. The successful candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of both business and construction law, as well as familiarity with construction contracts. This is a full-time employee position in Vienna, (Tysons Corner) Virginia with a partnership track.
Essential Functions:
• Preparation and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts across a variety of lines of business
• Comfortable advising clients with respect to insurance, letters of credit, bond requirements, subcontracts, purchase orders, vendor agreements, joint ventures, and construction contracts
• Provide pre-claim and claim support and resources to our clients and their project teams in order to prepare and negotiate, as required
• Participate in litigation preparation and the trying of cases
• Previous insurance defense work is a plus
Required Qualifications:
• Law degree from an ABA accredited University
• Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar
• 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or legal department
• Working knowledge of construction contracts and construction law
• Must be detail oriented
• Proactive and works well independently
• Ability to manage time sensitive matters, multitask and manage competing priorities
• Excellent writing/grammar/spelling skills
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, as well as an aptitude for learning new database software for e-discovery
Preferred Qualifications:
• D.C. and/or Maryland bar
