Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist for our client, responsible for specimen collection and processing across various clinical sites. The primary responsibilities include venipuncture, non-blood specimen collection, processing and preparation of specimens for transport, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain readiness for regional travel to various clinical sites, often with short-notice adjustments.
  • Perform accurate and timely venipuncture and non-blood specimen collection (e.g., urine, fecal) according to established SOPs.
  • Create a calm, professional environment to reduce patient anxiety during the collection process.
  • Ensure all biohazard materials and sharps are disposed of in strict accordance with safety laws and internal policies.
  • Enter patient demographics, insurance data, and billing information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with high attention to detail.
  • Verify handwritten orders with clinical staff to ensure accuracy of test codes, diagnosis codes, and physician information.
  • Prepare specimens for transport: centrifuging, splitting, freezing, and labeling samples according to specific temperature and stability requirements.
  • Research test requirements using internal databases to ensure specimen integrity before transport.
  • Maintain comprehensive daily logs, patient records, and assist in compiling monthly volume statistics.
  • Execute basic clerical tasks including filing, faxing, and electronic data entry.
  • Adhere to corporate grooming and dress code standards to maintain a professional clinical image at all times.
  • Manage time effectively to handle fluctuating patient volumes while working independently at various sites.
  • Participate in inventory management by reporting shortages and assisting with periodic counts at assigned locations.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (Equivalent experience of 3+ years may be considered based on state guidelines).
  • Phlebotomy Certification is highly preferred (Required for candidates in Louisiana).
  • Valid Driver's License and active driver's insurance.
  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) is a plus.

Additional Requirements
