Job description

Summary
The Billing Specialist is responsible for the processing of client invoices, including mailing or e-billing invoices, customer service of internal and external clients. The Billing Specialist will report to the Billing Manager/Billing Supervisor of the Finance Department.

Required Education & Experience
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a professional environment.
  • Strong computer experience, including experience with Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred Education & Experience
  • College or business school preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of legal billing experience preferred.
  • Experience with Elite Legal Management, 3E and Thomson Elite eBILLINGHUB software preferred.
  • Law Firm or other professional service industry experience preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Process & Produce Client Invoices (85%)
    • Assist team with monthly printing and stapling proformas.
    • Make attorney edited changes on proformas in 3E, including
      • Narrative edits
      • Extreme awareness of special billing instructions and rate exceptions
      • Billable hour changes as directed by Attorney
      • Apply invoice discounts
      • Process WIP write/downs with appropriate approvals
      • Apply unallocated funds with Attorney direction
      • Apply trust funds with Attorney direction
      • E-billing invoices through Thomson Elite eBILLINGHUB
    • General and Administrative (15%)
      • Monthly review of Attorney Hold accounts
      • Monthly review of Trust/Unallocated balances on matters
      • Update Attorney Billing Profiles as needed
      • Process check requests (refunds to client) in Chrome River
      • Kwik-Tag scanning of proformas and back up to FileSite
      • Responsibility to assist Attorneys, internal/external client request
      • Travel requirements are negligible
      • Must be available to work overtime and some week-ends, especially during peak billing periods and during fiscal year-end
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $67,000. The salary range for this position is based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, and location. The range is provided as an initial approximation at the time of posting and may vary based on the individual's unique qualifications and experience.
