Job Description:
La Sierra University's Physical Plant Department handles university building maintenance landscape and grounds maintenance, custodial and post office services and safety. The Physical Plant office is looking for student workers to administer the day-to-day interoffice and U.S mail as well as parcel shipping/receiving duties for the university campus with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and time management.
Students must have a valid driver's license and have good people skills and good communication skills.
Students may also handle the following as part of their responsibilities when postal and shipping/receiving duties are completed during a shift:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Check with management what task is needed daily
  • Front Desk Duties
  • Greet and receive visitors, vendors, faculty and staff to the department offices
  • Answer phone, take messages, provide accurate departmental information, transfer calls as necessary
  • Assist with postal services incoming and outgoing mail
  • Assist with scanning packages and delivering of packages under 40 lbs.
  • Assist with delivering water
  • Make copies
  • File paperwork
  • Assist with obtaining invoices
  • Assist with managing office supply inventory
  • Create and dispatch maintenance, grounds, and custodial work orders
  • Call technicians with urgent work orders
  • Monthly rounding of campus buildings to perform periodic maintenance activities such as fire extinguisher inspections, eye wash stations inspections and similar
  • Fill out a daily work log of areas that have been checked and report any items of concerns in the building
  • Assist with keeping cleanliness (sweep, clean, move, etc..) and organization throughout the physical plant at the end of day
  • Assist with staff time keeping
  • Assist with vendor billing and insurance
  • Assist with department vehicle inspections
  • Filing, organizing, and maintaining the office common areas
  • Other tasks as assigned
