Job description

Insurance Agent Apprentice (Protégé Program)

Farmers Insurance District 95 – Austin, TX

The Farmers Insurance Protégé Program is designed for ambitious, entrepreneurial-minded professionals who want more than just another sales job. This is a long-term career opportunity built for individuals who are motivated by growth, leadership, financial success, and eventually owning and operating their own business.

As a Protégé Agent with Farmers Insurance District 95, you’ll work directly alongside experienced agency owners, sales leaders, and mentors while learning the insurance business from the ground up inside our Austin office. This is a hands-on apprenticeship-style role where you’ll gain real-world experience in insurance sales, client relationship management, marketing, networking, business operations, and leadership development.

Unlike many traditional sales jobs where you’re left on your own, our program is built around daily support, mentorship, coaching, collaboration, and professional growth. You’ll be surrounded by a motivated, energetic team environment that focuses heavily on helping individuals succeed while creating clear pathways toward long-term leadership and agency ownership opportunities.

This is a full-time, in-office opportunity designed to accelerate your growth and learning curve much faster than a typical entry-level role. You’ll learn directly from experienced Farmers professionals while developing the confidence, sales ability, and business knowledge needed to eventually operate your own Farmers Insurance agency.

Our district provides:
• Hands-on mentorship and daily coaching
• Licensing support and training assistance
• Structured sales and leadership development
• Real-world business and marketing experience
• Guidance from successful agency owners and district leaders
• Base salary plus uncapped commission opportunities
• A fun, competitive, growth-focused office environment
• A clear roadmap toward future agency ownership opportunities

Responsibilities:
• Sell and service personal, commercial, and life insurance products
• Prospect and generate new business through referrals, networking, marketing campaigns, and outbound

outreach
• Build strong client relationships through consultative sales and follow-up
• Learn agency operations, leadership, and business development directly from experienced Farmers

agency owners
• Meet or exceed monthly sales and production goals
• Participate in ongoing mentorship, sales training, and coaching sessions
• Complete required licensing and University of Farmers training programs
• Maintain accurate client records and policy documentation within agency systems
• Present customized insurance solutions based on each client’s needs and goals
• Develop professional sales, marketing, and leadership skills with the long-term goal of agency ownership

opportunities

Requirements:
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Competitive, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial mindset
• Sales experience preferred but not required
• Insurance experience is a plus but not required
• Property & Casualty and/or Life & Health licenses preferred (licensing assistance available for qualified

candidates)
• Comfortable speaking with clients over the phone and in person
• Coachable attitude with willingness to learn and grow
• Ability to work full-time in-office in the Austin area
• Goal-oriented with strong work ethic and professionalism

If you’re driven, personable, competitive, and excited by the idea of building a long-term career with significant income and leadership potential, District 95 offers one of the strongest mentorship and growth opportunities in the insurance industry.

This is more than just a sales position — it’s a chance to build a future business with the support, systems, mentorship, and training to help you succeed.
