Jones & Company CPAs is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our Tax Services team in Greenville, Ohio. We are a well-established public accounting firm known for long-term client relationships, technical excellence, and a collaborative, people-first culture.

This role is ideal for an early-career CPA or experienced public accounting professional who enjoys working closely with clients, delivering high-quality tax and accounting services, and growing within a firm where professionalism, integrity, and teamwork matter.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality tax and accounting services while building technical expertise and strong client relationships.

  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and non-profit entities
  • Assist with accounting, bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation
  • Support audit, review, and compilation engagements as assigned
  • Research tax regulations and accounting guidance to support compliance and planning
  • Identify potential tax savings opportunities and compliance risks for supervisor review
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and respond to routine inquiries
  • Maintain accurate workpapers and ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and firm policies
  • Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficient workflows

What We’re Looking For:

  • CPA license or actively pursuing CPA (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2–4 years of public accounting experience or relevant tax/accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and accounting principles
  • Experience with tax and accounting software such as CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, GoSystem, BNA, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and professionalism

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a public accounting firm environment
  • Exposure to audit and assurance engagements
  • Experience working directly with small business clients
  • Progress toward CPA licensure

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation: $55,000 – $80,000 annually, based on experience level and relevant public accounting background. Entry-level candidates or recent graduates may start closer to $55,000, while candidates with a few years of experience may fall toward the upper end of the range.
