National Interstate is looking for an Accountant to join their team. This individual will work a hybrid schedule out of the Richfield office.

National Interstate's culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core inoffice days are Tuesday-Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provides customer support across multiple lines of insurance by handling inbound and outbound phone calls and responding to emails to address inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

  • Fosters and builds relationships with internal departments and external customers to ensure a positive customer experience.

  • Handles inquiries from internal and external customers related to billing and payments.

  • Communicates effectively through clear written and verbal communication.

  • Applies working knowledge of multiple billing and policy systems and related procedures to accurately administer billing, record payments, and reconcile billing statements.

  • Conducts followup on delinquent accounts, including communication with collection agencies, insurance agents, and insureds.

  • Gathers and organizes data to support the creation of standard and ad hoc reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Generally, a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting support functions. Billing and collections experience preferred.

Scope of Job/Qualifications: Possesses advanced organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations and company policies/guidelines related to insurance accounting. Strong attention to detail organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
