JOB DESCRIPTION


Summary/Objective

The Account Manager role is to oversee a portfolio of assigned clients, develop new business from existing clients, actively seek existing client coverage opportunities, and process all claims for the selected business unit. Account management responsibilities include developing strong relationships with clients, connecting with key business executives and stakeholders, and preparing renewal reports. Account Managers answer client queries, identify new business opportunities among existing clients, and follow through with processing. In this role, you will liaise with cross-functional internal teams (including Customer Service and Sales departments) to improve the entire customer experience. This position may require travel.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all assigned client account management matters
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client and carrier relationships and being proactive in anticipating client needs
  • Negotiate renewal contracts and close agreements
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, client stakeholders, and executives
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives
  • Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives and KPIs
  • Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement
  • Prepare reports on account status (Renewal No Surprise Approach)
  • Participate in company Marketing initiatives that affect the growth of the Company
  • Collaborate with sales team to identify and grow opportunities within territory
  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed
  • Handle daily activities, calls, mail, emails and other account management duties including the documentation and processing/tracking of client interactions within agency management system (AM-Epic) and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the company to ensure data accuracy and completeness
  • Handling billing, including outstanding payments, claims, coverage analysis and customer service inquiries and requests made by the customer and processing to conclusion.
  • Manage policy expirations, cancellations, and renewals.
  • Prepare renewal submissions, remarket accounts, negotiate coverage, and conduct client research.
  • Stay updated on and follow/adhere to company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain frequent, transparent communication with team members regarding accounts and workload status, including any issues.

Education & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proven work experience as an Account Manager, Key Account Manager, Sales Account Manager, Junior Account Manager or relevant role
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level
  • Solid experience with CRM software (e.g., Pipedrive, Asana, etc.) and MS Office (particularly MS Excel)
  • Experience delivering client-focused solutions to customer needs
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple account management projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Sales, or relevant field preferred
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail
