Job description

The crew works as part of the Weatherization team to increase energy efficiency of homes that have qualified for the program’s funding. The team works together to meet the mission and goals of the Energy Conservation Program and of RECAP, Inc. Every human link in the chain is valuable, and will be depended upon to complete tasks and meet goals.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

· Construction experience.

· Knowledge of one or more of the following: plumbing, heating, electrical wiring, carpentry, sheetrock, spackle and installation of insulation materials;

· Use of hand tools and small power tools,

· Basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills,

· Able and willing to follow instructions,

· Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with clients, fellow crew members, and supervisors,

· Valid, clean driver license is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installation of weatherization measures including plumbing, carpentry, insulation, heating, electrical, blower door testing, and air sealing. Address health and safety issues of dwelling. Make calculations and reports of work done in homes. Complete necessary retrofits. Work as part of a team to complete goals and meet deadlines. This team member will set up jobs upon arrive at the site, perform measures as assigned by Crew Chief, maintain a safe & clean work area and work vehicle, assist crew chief in required testing, maintains daily time allocation sheets, and other various duties as assigned by Crew Chief or Director of Energy Conservation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach, handle objects, tools or controls, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, work in tight spaces and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close distance, peripheral perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work conditions may include exposure to inclement weather and noise. Position may require exposure to electronic equipment including computers, printers, fax, and copy machines and cleaning equipment. If position requires use of a motor vehicle that would include: driving on city streets and/or highways, exposure to inclement weather and traffic. Employees are to take all precautions and follow all laws while in these environments. This job requires consistent punctuality and attendance at the job site and includes sites in Orange and Rockland counties.
