Title: Sr. Electrical Field Service Specialist
Location: Remote / Travel within Chicago, IL area
Type: Direct Hire
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Field Service Specialist Engineer to join our client's team supporting power distribution system equipment. This role is Remote with travel to client sites within Chicago, IL area. Candidate will provide hands-on-field support services and technical expertise across a variety of customer sites.
Candidate must have Electrical Field Service experience with electrical troubleshooting of electrical equipment and systems, and be able to install, service, commission, provide testing, maintenance, failure analysis, quality control, and perform troubleshooting as well as repairs to electrical components, electrical equipment, and power systems. Ideal candidates will also have experience with Mid-Level and Low-Level Voltage environments working with switchgear/switchboards, transformers, metering, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relays.
Responsibilities
  • Perform basic to complex installation, maintenance, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting for client's systems as well as perform job site final walk-through.
  • Provide service and maintenance and testing of switchgear/switchboard, motor controls, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, and surge protection devices.
  • Perform vibration analysis and metering, battery maintenance and testing, protective relay maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement.
  • Will upgrade software for programs, hardware devices, and ensure connectivity.
  • Will integrate 3rd party software to monitor, analyze, and control electrical infrastructure across a facility or to integrate other devices.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical control circuits.
  • Perform mechanical inspection and insulation resistance testing, contact resistance measurements, timing tests, test MV or LV circuit breakers, and functional operations (trip/close) to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Act as technical resource to customer and field employees as well as training as needed.
  • Be available to respond to emergency calls and relief assignments.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience installation, maintenance, commissioning, testing, servicing, troubleshooting and repairing of industrial and commercial power systems (electrical control circuits, switchgear/switchboard, motor controls, transformers, and electrical devices)
  • 5+ years of experience in the installation and maintenance of Power Automation Switchboards
  • 5+ years of experience performing electrical test sets for transformers to ensure transformer are safe for service such as AC/DC High Potential (Hipot) testing, Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) testing, Transformer Power Factor Testing, etc.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distributions systems
  • Ability to obtain certifications as needed
