Job description

The YMCA of Greater Erie is looking to hire a part-time Fitness Instructor for our Eastside YMCA Location. We are seeking instructors to lead classes from Yoga to Strength / Cycle to Dance. We welcome all group Fitness Instructors to apply and share their talents with the Y and its members. Are you experienced with guiding members from different skill levels in a fitness program? This position pay starting at $10.39 per hour depending on experience.


A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

As a Fitness Instructor, you will assist members in making a healthy lifestyle change. You will assist members through this process by providing a personalized attention, support, and motivation. The role of the Fitness Instructor is to provide character development, health education and instruction that will lead to member retention and involvement.

Help to improve the health and well-being of the community the YMCA serves. Serve as a role model for a healthy lifestyle and superior "Expect the Best" customer service. Represent the YMCA positively and maintain good and friendly relationship with the YMCA members and staff. Attend all departmental meetings and trainings as scheduled.

With enthusiasm and compassion, you provide instruction emphasizing connection, safety and proper technique. You are also conscientious about maintaining equipment and ensuring compliance with YMCA standards.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

  1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid and complete YMCA of the USA Principles of Health and Fitness (can be completed upon hire.)
  2. Understand components and principles of fitness and be able to discuss them in laymen terms.
  3. This individual must possess a professional image and ability to provide positive feedback, motivation, and encouragement.
  4. Ability to establish relationships with staff and members within the community of the YMCA
  5. The instructor must be able to possess and set an excellent example of health and fitness and member service
  6. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  7. Completion of all new employee trainings within the established timeline and related training as available.
