SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direct supervision of the building Principal, the Instructional Assistant assists administrators in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so that students may learn effectively.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Complete clerical work as directed including producing and reproducing materials for classroom instruction.
  2. Assist children with their personal needs, i.e. helping with boots, coats, etc.
  3. Supervise playgrounds, lunchroom, loading and unloading of school buses, corridors, and restrooms as assigned.
  4. Attend meetings when requested to do so
  5. Assist classroom teacher with pupil assignments, i.e. drill work, oral reading, listening to children read, and written assignments.
  6. Assist classroom teacher with student management responsibilities
  7. Assume supervision of the classroom when assigned by administration.
  8. Assume responsibility for the discipline of the students during all the assigned tasks.
  9. Participate in training as required by administration.
  10. Effectively provide academic support to students individually or in small groups.
  11. Provide regular and consistent support to the school.
  12. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. High School Diploma, Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts or its equivalent, preferred
  2. Three years' transferable experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATE LICENSE: None required
LOCATION: Jacques Memorial School
SCHEDULE: Part-time, 5.5 hours per day, 190 days per year
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $15.35 per hour - $15.97 per hour
