Primary Purpose
Provide instructional and classroom support services across the campus through long-term substitute assignments, daily substitute coverage, inclusion support, intervention assistance, small-group assistance, and other duties as assigned. The Instructional Associate position is designed to support district staffing and instructional needs while providing individuals who have completed degree requirements an opportunity to gain valuable school and classroom experience in Buna ISD while pursuing or considering teacher certification.
Instructional Associates may serve in a variety of educational settings and assignments based on campus needs and will work under the supervision and direction of campus administration and certified instructional staff.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education required
- Candidates who have completed degree requirements and are pursuing teacher certification are encouraged to apply
- Must meet all district and state requirements for employment
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to support instruction and assist with classroom management
- Ability to follow lesson plans and instructional guidance provided by certified staff
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, abilities, and academic needs
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments and campus needs
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and positive working relationships
- Ability to assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment
- Willingness to serve in a variety of instructional and support roles throughout the district
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Provide instructional support to students in classroom, inclusion, intervention, and small-group settings.
  2. Serve as a long-term substitute teacher or daily substitute teacher as assigned.
  3. Assist certified teachers with classroom activities, instructional delivery, and student supervision.
  4. Support implementation of lesson plans and instructional activities provided by campus staff.
  5. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills and concepts introduced by the classroom teacher.
  6. Assist in monitoring student progress and behavior.
  7. Help maintain an orderly, safe, and productive classroom environment.
  8. Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially as assigned.
  9. Provide campus coverage and support as assigned by administration.
  10. Assist with duties related to testing, tutorials, interventions, supervision, arrival/dismissal, lunch duty, or other campus operations.
  11. Perform assigned duties in multiple grade levels, subject areas, or campuses as needed.
  12. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to meet student and campus needs.
  13. Participate in required district and campus training opportunities.
  14. Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district matters.
  15. Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, communication, attendance, and job performance.
  16. Follow all district policies, administrative procedures, and campus expectations.
  17. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, principal, or designee.

Terms of Employment
Employment is on an at-will basis unless otherwise provided by law or Board policy. Assignment, duties, and work location may be changed based on district needs.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district administrative regulations and board policy.
