Sugar Hollow Solar is hiring a Solar Installer! This key position is responsible for physically setting up and maintaining solar panels on buildings and other structures, including tasks like measuring, cutting, assembling support structures, installing solar modules, connecting panels to the electrical system and ensuring the entire system complies with safety standards and building codes. Additionally, this position is also responsible to work with the team to carry materials, prepare work sites, hold panels in place, run wires and perform other tasks as needed to facilitate an effective efficient installation process.

Our ideal candidate brings some practical experience in electrical installations, roofing or general construction experience, an understanding of electrical wiring of AC and DC systems, is comfortable with heights and working on roofs, loves the feeling of accomplishment when a project is done right and working with a team of like-minded individuals and believes in the power of renewable energy!

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mounts and secures solar panels on roofs or ground-mounted structures, including cutting and fitting support beams as needed
  • Assists in positioning and aligning solar panels on the roof or ground mount structure
  • Assists with drilling holes for mounting hardware
  • Connects solar panels to inverters and the electrical grid, ensuring proper wiring and safety protocols are followed
  • Assists in running electrical wires from panels to inverters as directed
  • Assists with system testing and troubleshooting
  • Ensures all equipment is properly secured and follows safety protocols on the job site
  • Assists in loading components and follows inventory and tool check-out protocols
  • Leaves the SHS warehouse in good clean order inside and out
  • Cleans work areas, removing debris and ensuring the installation site is ready for solar panel placement
  • Removes packaging materials and debris from the work area after installation
  • Gains knowledge by attending ongoing training sessions about different solar panel types, mounting systems and electrical connections


Qualifications

  • Practical experience in electrical installations, roofing or general construction or other equivalent experience required
  • Basic understanding/experience with electrical wiring of AC and DC systems required
  • Comfort with heights and working on roofs required
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification a plus
  • Valid driver license required
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Certification a plus

  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues during installation and maintenance
  • Ability to make precise measurements and accurate wiring connections for optimal system performance
