Job description

Pinnacle Engineering Group is searching for an Inspector III who will be responsible for performing construction engineering and project delivery activities by performing advanced field inspections, monitoring contractor operations, and overseeing condition assessment and evaluation efforts for site development and transportation-related projects. The Inspector III supports project delivery through on-site construction observation, compliance monitoring, field testing, documentation of observations and measurements, and the preparation of reports, exhibits, calculations, and technical documentation using MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, or PDF editing software. This role also assists with the training and development of entry-level inspectors while ensuring construction activities comply with project specifications, engineering standards, safety requirements, and state, county and/or local municipality regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform field inspections of site development and transportation-related projects under supervision.
  • Assist construction engineers while overseeing the preparation of inspection, evaluation, and condition assessment reports.
  • Monitor daily construction activities to ensure they meet blueprint specifications, engineering standards, and safety codes.
  • Take the lead on performing advanced field inspections of site development and transportation-related projects.
  • Monitor contractor operations for adherence to state, county and/or local municipality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and environmental regulations.
  • Document field observations, measurements, and photographs in accordance with governing agency and inspection standards.
  • Prepare report exhibits, sketches, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Support field testing, measurements, and reporting.
  • Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors, while tracking material quality and usage.
  • Maintain accurate project records and logs.
  • Assist with the hands-on training and development of entry-level inspectors.
  • Monitor the progress of entry-level inspectors and provide feedback as necessary.
  • Review shop drawings and material submittals for compliance to plans and specifications.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in transportation, infrastructure, roadway, utility, construction or related field.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Proficient understanding of construction methods, materials, and inspection procedures.
  • Knowledge of highway design standards (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD, DOT or local standards).
  • Basic understanding of engineering and construction management tools (construction management software (e.g. ProCore), PDF editing software, scheduling software, etc.)
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. (preferred)
