This role provides exposure to crop monitoring, pest scouting, harvest coordination, and processing plant support. The intern will assist with data collection, documentation, and operational tasks while contributing to efficient seasonal workflow and production success.Key ResponsibilitiesField & Crop MonitoringConduct field scouting to monitor crop health and growth stagesPerform crop sampling and collect accurate field dataComplete stand counts and assist with plant population assessmentsCollect and document moisture samples during harvestRecord observations and maintain organized, timely reportsBug Crew / Pest MonitoringScout fields for insect presence and pest pressureIdentify and document insect populations and signs of crop damageCollect insect samples for monitoring and reportingAssist with tracking treatment thresholds and communicating findingsSupport Integrated Pest Management (IPM) effortsFollow all field safety and biosecurity protocolsHarvest & Plant SupportAssist with harvest communication and documentationSupport daily processing and plant operations as neededHelp maintain accurate production and field recordsAssist with data entry and reportingFollow all company safety policies and proceduresPerform additional duties as assigned to support seasonal operationsQualificationsCurrently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Industrial Technology, or related field preferredStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentWillingness to work outdoors and in a processing plant settingBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred)Ability to lift up toinsert weightand work in varying weather conditionsWhat You?ll GainHands-on experience in crop production and processing operationsExposure to agronomy, pest management, and harvest logisticsPractical data collection and reporting experienceProfessional mentorship and industry insightPotential opportunity for future employmentLakeside Foods and our family of companies welcomes people of all backgrounds and the varied ideas they bring to the workplace.
