Summary/Purpose
This position is responsible for concept, design, and implementation of mechanical and electromechanical systems for innovation development projects within the Innovation Team. The person who fills this job contributes significantly to new product development projects within JTEKT NA.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate with the Innovation Team in the concept development, design, and prototype of mechanical and electromechanical projects within JTEKT NA.
  • Provide technical team support for component and assembly design, measurement, and testing.
  • Explore, learn, and apply new technologies applicable for development of project solutions.
  • Explore new markets and products to identify solutions where unmet needs exist.
  • Partner with customers and suppliers to identify and develop new product opportunities.
  • Develop SolidWorks models, drawings, schematics, layouts, bill of materials, etc. in support of projects.
  • Create a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge and collaboration with team members.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of team goals and business objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Exhibit creativity and an innovative mindset in solving technical challenges.
  • Proven ability to drive ideas from concept through production implementation.
  • Working knowledge and experience of typical computer software tools.
    • MS365, SolidWorks, Matlab, Python, and/or other tools.
  • Ability to develop, read, and understand basic mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of data acquisition and signal processing algorithms/systems.
  • Working knowledge of how and where to apply various AI tools.
  • Basic ability to identify, troubleshoot, and solve problems within projects.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical system safety and compliance as related to specific projects.
  • Familiarity with environmental, mechanical, and electrical testing methodologies.
  • Robotics knowledge is a plus.
  • Self-starter with strong technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with individuals and groups while sharing and receiving instruction and information.
  • Collaborate effectively across multiple cross-functional teams and departments.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Mechatronics is required.
  • 5+ years of experience with the design, build, operation of mechanical or electromechanical systems.
