Job description

Overview

CTG is seeking an Infrastructure Security Engineer / Systems Engineer to work onsite in NYC. Must have proper work authorization, and this position does not allow for C2C or 1099.

Location: Onsite in NYC 5 days per week (Must have a valid drivers license)

Duration: Long term contract that could be a contract to hire

Key Responsibilities:

Operating Systems & Servers:

  • Proficiency with Windows Server/Desktop operating systems, including user administration, file systems, software, and services.
  • Experience managing Linux operating systems, Workstations, and Application Servers.
  • Management of Operating Systems across various platforms.

Server & Storage Management:

  • Understanding of servers and various storage RAID configurations.
  • Experience with Nutanix clusters, including design and implementation of Nutanix environments.
  • Proficiency with VMware vSphere and Hyper-V virtualization technologies.

Active Directory & Authentication:

  • Management of Active Directory, including backup and recovery of domains and Group Policy Object (GPO) setups.
  • Knowledge of authentication and access control mechanisms.

Networking & Security:

  • Strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts and troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, routing, firewalls).
  • Experience with network security tools such as NIDS/NIPS, proxies, secure web gateways, and firewalls.
  • Fundamental understanding of security principles, ACLs, encryption, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Experience with AV/EDR/XDR solutions.

Cloud & Distributed Systems:

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Oracle.
    Working knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architectures.

Scripting & Automation:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Ksh, Perl, or Python for automating routine tasks.
  • Familiarity with bulk deployment tools and automation processes.

Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Ability to actively monitor the entire infrastructure and troubleshoot servers.
  • Experience in monitoring system health and performance, providing statistics to identify bottlenecks, and leading optimization efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT support, including 3-5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, system administration, or a related role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of various computing platforms, including servers, networks, and storage.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with a safety mindset.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, integrity, and make sound business decisions.
  • Versatility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Willingness to provide off-hour, on-call support for workstations, servers, and other system-related issues, including travel to various supported sites.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adjust work hours for emergencies or scheduled work outside normal business hours.
  • Must have the means and ability to travel to various company locations (valid driver's license required).

  • Ability to intrepid, modify and write scripts and SQL queries
  • Analysis of cyber activity / threats
  • Experience with Splunk
  • Failover Manager administration with clustering VMware
