Job Description

Are you an AWS Cloud Migration Engineer with a passion to help Public Sector customers innovate by moving their applications to the cloud? Do you have a track record of successful migrations where you have led workload migration and modernization projects? Do you have hands-on experience with modern cloud migration tooling? As a GDIT AWS Cloud Migration Engineer, you will lead the technical aspects of Public Sector migration and modernization efforts to the AWS environment throughout the entire lifecycle of the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer environments and develop the cloud migration strategy and project phases.
  • Perform customer portfolio assessments and wave planning.
  • Leverage cloud migration tooling (both AWS and/or third party).
  • Leverage existing or develop new migration patterns.
  • Develop target, end-state architectures.
  • Migrate customer workloads to the AWS cloud environment.
  • Document AWS deployed solutions and environments.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to capture engagement intellectual capital and formalize learnings into formal methodologies and templates.
  • Mentor other cloud engineers in cloud migration processes and technologies.
  • Ensure adherence of target cloud environments with federal frameworks like FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, RMD, CMMS, FISMA, DoW IL5-IL7 or HIPAA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree (BA/BS) with five (5) years of practical AWS cloud migration experience or a high school diploma with eight (8) years of practical cloud migration experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) successful cloud migrations.
  • Experience delivering across all phases of the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) and methodology.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud migration tooling (native AWS and 3rd party tooling).
  • Deep knowledge of AWS EC2 EKS, Lambda, EBS, EKS, VPC, RDS, DynamoDB, RedShift, Step Functions, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with Landing Zones (LZ) and Trusted Secure Enclaves (TSE).
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code using the AWS SDK, Cloud Formation, Terraform, Ansible, Python, CDK or similar.
  • Location: Washington DC Metro.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • US Citizenship required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
