Job description

About Local Now

Local Now is a free, ad-supported streaming service delivering local news, weather, sports, and lifestyle programming to viewers across virtually every connected device. As part of Allen Media Group, we operate at meaningful scale across mobile, smart TVs, streaming sticks, set-top boxes, and the web. We are now investing in a ground-up rebuild of our streaming platform with a privacy-first architecture, modern shared-code strategy, and the engineering rigor needed to grow sustainably.

We build for audiences who expect frictionless playback on any device, and for advertisers who depend on us to deliver reliable, high-quality monetization. The work is tangible: every improvement we make is felt by millions of viewers.

The Role

We are hiring a Data Center Operations Manager based in Atlanta, GA to own the day-to-day operations, reliability, and lifecycle of our on-site infrastructure that supports our streaming services. This is a

hands-on leadership role: you will manage the physical and operational layer that our cloud services and applications depend on, partner with our broader engineering and DevOps functions, and own the discipline that keeps our infrastructure dependable as we grow.

This role is on-site in Atlanta. You should be energized by being the person who keeps the lights on — and the playback flowing — for millions of viewers.

What You Will Do

  • Own day-to-day operations of the Atlanta data center, including capacity, power, cooling, physical security, and vendor coordination.
  • Lead hardware lifecycle management: procurement, deployment, decommissioning, and refresh planning aligned to growth and roadmap needs.
  • Define and run incident response and escalation procedures for site-level events; partner with on-call engineering when issues span infra and software.
  • Manage relationships with colocation, hardware, and connectivity vendors; negotiate and track service-level agreements.
  • Build and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational dashboards so that the site is observable and operable by more than one person.
  • Partner with Dev Ops and platform engineering to align infrastructure capacity with software architecture decisions.
  • Establish and maintain compliance posture(physical security, environmental, audit readiness)appropriate to the data and services hosted.
  • Hire and grow the on-site operations staff overtime as scope dictates.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+years of data center or large-scale infrastructure operations experience.
  • Hands-on expertise across server hardware, networking, storage, power/cooling, and physical-security systems.
  • Experience in a 24x7 video operations environment, including familiarity with video encoding hardware and software, multicast, packaging, origination, etc.
  • Strong vendor management chops—colocation, hardware OEMs, ISPs, and managed-service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate engineering and product requirements into capacity and infrastructure plans.
  • Experience defining incident response, change management, and operational run books in a 24/7environment.
  • Comfort partnering with cloud-native engineering teams; appreciation for hybrid-architecture realities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to present operational posture to executive leadership.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting streaming media, video distribution, or content delivery infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code, configuration management, and modern observability tooling.
  • Background managing infrastructure that handles regulated or privacy-sensitive data.
