Job description

Job Summary:
Esri is a company focused on creating positive global change through GIS technology. They are seeking a talented systems engineer to support their private cloud and enhance DevSecOps practices, automating workflows for the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain operational components in private clouds such as VMware and Hyper-V
• Ensure managed infrastructure meets all internal and regulatory security standards
• Collaborate with IT and Security teams in partnership with departmental contacts across Esri divisions to build solutions and address issues
• Drive automation to improve operational maturity for infrastructure deployment and maintenance
• Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to ensure optimal uptime and resource utilization of servers & the virtual environments
• Respond to alerts; troubleshoot and resolve problem tickets
• Identify cost optimization opportunities and help maintain strong vendor relationships
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of procedures, configurations, and best practices.
• Share knowledge in team meetings, one-on-one mentoring, and training sessions
• Provide rotational on-call technical support
Qualifications:
Required:
• 2+ years of infrastructure operations or DevOps engineering experience
• Experience with Design and deployment of server hardware (e.g. Dell, HP, Super Micro)
• Experience with Configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Linux environments
• Experience with Private cloud environments running VMware or Hyper-V
• Experience with Configuration management systems such as SCCM, Ansible
• Experience with Infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform and Packer
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems (Server and Workstation)
• Familiar with enterprise storage concepts (NAS, SAN, Tiering)
• Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (PowerShell, JavaScript, Python preferred)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related subject
Preferred:
• Experimenting with AI & Agentic AI to aid infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and automation
• Experience with containers and container orchestration platforms such as OpenShift
• Experience working with APIs (REST, SOAP)
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as CIS, STIG, CMMC, and application of vendor best practice hardening guidance
• Familiarity with ServiceNow ITIL functions – tasks, lists, reports, queries, CMDB
• Certifications preferred: Microsoft Azure, VMware VCF, or related
