Position Summary...Join Walmart’s technology team as a Staff, Systems and Infrastructure Engineer, where you will design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure solutions that support critical business operations. This role requires expertise in systems engineering, cloud migration, and infrastructure automation to enhance security and efficiency. You will collaborate across teams to develop robust identity and access management frameworks and optimize configuration management processes. Your contributions will ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure that aligns with Walmart’s strategic objectives and supports ongoing innovation.
About the team:
The Enterprise Directory Services Core team oversees Walmart’s multiple Active Directory forests, ensuring secure and efficient LDAP services. This team maintains a stable, well-protected Active Directory environment, demonstrating operational excellence. It provides consulting support to application teams by sharing best practices and resolving application-related issues. Focused on reliability, security, modernization, and collaboration, the team plays a crucial role in sustaining the infrastructure that supports Walmart’s business operations. Their expertise includes systems engineering, cloud migration, configuration management, and security systems, enabling seamless and secure IT service delivery aligned with organizational goals. What you'll do...Support the design, security, and management of Active Directory and support hybrid identity systems. This role contributes to identity modernization, architecture standards, automation, and resilient directory services across large-scale infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for enterprise Active Directory services across multi-domain, multi-forest, and hybrid identity environments.
  • Contribute to modernization of domain controller infrastructure through service optimization initiatives.
  • Support enterprise identity modernization by helping integrate Active Directory with cloud-based identity platforms and reduce legacy authentication dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks, monitoring platforms, and alerting solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and escalation support for engineers.

What you'll bring:
  • Solid experience in IT infrastructure, Enterprise IAM, Active Directory, cloud-based identity, and access management adoption.
  • Proven expertise in systems engineering, infrastructure maintenance, and configuration management.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, JavaScript and Python to automate operational tasks.
  • Ability to analyze infrastructure performance metrics and develop capacity plans aligned with business requirements.
  • Familiarity with version control, release verification, and integration management using middleware and APIs.
  • Understanding of architectural principles and design patterns for scalable, secure systems.
  • Hands-on experience managing Active Directory and Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services for enterprise environments.
  • Software engineering skills to support integration and development of infrastructure components.
