Job description

Your Opportunity
This role is a client-facing consulting position within Stantec's Management & Technology Consulting (MTC) group. As a Consultant, you will support and deliver consulting engagements focused on infrastructure capital planning, funding, policy, and compliance for public- and private sector clients across North America.
You will work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary project teams, applying analytical, organizational, and communication skills to help communities plan, fund, and deliver needed infrastructure investments. This role emphasizes critical thinking, quantitative and financial analysis, clear written communication and visualization, and client collaboration, with guidance from senior consultants and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Client Support
  • Contribute to consulting engagements addressing infrastructure funding, capital planning, policy analysis, and compliance for local governments and utilities.
  • Analyze complex financial, policy, and organizational challenges related to capital improvement planning, funding strategies, and infrastructure delivery.
  • Support client workshops, meetings, and working sessions through data analysis, development of materials, and facilitation support.
  • Prepare high-quality, publicly facing deliverables including memoranda, written reports, technical analyses, and presentations.

Capital Planning & Funding Support
  • Participate and lead Stantec's North America Funding Program initiatives, including research and policy analysis of federal, state, and local funding programs.
  • Assist with development of grant and loan applications of frameworks that align client capital improvement program needs with funding opportunities.
  • Undertake policy and funding impact analysis related to infrastructure investment decisions.
  • Perform compliance activities to support clients in management of governmental grants and loans, including grant award review, reporting, and grant agency coordination.

Analytical & Technical Contributions
  • Acquire, clean, analyze, and interpret large and complex datasets to support financial, policy, and capital planning analyses.
  • Develop quantitative models and scenario analyses using Microsoft Excel and related tools.
  • Apply structured problem-solving approaches to synthesize data, assumptions, and stakeholder input into actionable insights.

Team Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed, multi-disciplinary teams. Focus will be on client on the East Coast, including the Southeast.
  • Meet assigned goals related to quality, schedule, client service, and professional development.
  • Participate in required training and knowledge-sharing activities within the MTC group.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Knowledge of and experience with infrastructure projects, policy analysis, funding programs and financial analysis.
  • Direct work experience/history with government agencies, including local, state, or federal entities and utilities.
  • Elements of project management experience, including preparing and managing project scope, schedule, team activities, communication, and deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with, acquiring, and analyzing large data sets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel including quantitative modeling and analysis required.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required.

  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, data science, engineering, accounting, planning, or related fields are required. Master's Degree is a plus.
  • 5 years total post-undergraduate work experience related to planning, economics, asset management, infrastructure funding/delivery, financial analysis and working for local government agencies in these areas.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
