Job Summary

RT Ops Infrastructure Specialist Principle (Procurement and Licensing)
The Real Time Operations Infrastructure Specialist Principal establishes an advanced understanding of Transmission Operation Systems infrastructure and processes. This role involves various assignments related to planning, building, and maintaining IT/OT Infrastructure systems (hardware and software) for 24/7/365 critical real-time operations facilities. Responsibilities include producing technical documentation for support and configuration, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies, monitoring system performance, and resolving issues. This Principal role manages, plans, and maintains technical platforms while serving as a subject matter expert, supporting users of OT Infrastructure systems, and promoting a team culture of consistency, transparency, adaptability, and accountability.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Lead infrastructure projects, initiatives, and incidents involving Infrastructure technology.
  • Maintain multiple moderate-advanced complexity infrastructure assignments while promoting adherence to infrastructure policies and goals.
  • Work with Project Managers and customers to scope Infrastructure computing requirements, scalability, and budget.
  • Obtain vendor quotes and revisions. Document customer requests and quote revisions for audit readiness.
  • Order Infrastructure hardware and licenses, provide shipping contacts and instruction, receipt for material.
  • Help coordinate and ensure adequate control center computer room cabinet and rack space, power, cooling, and cabling for Infrastructure projects.
  • Work with vendors and corporate resources to account for license usage and determine necessary procurement needs.
  • Monitor and project Infrastructure system hardware lifecycle requirements.
  • Work with leadership to determine Infrastructure hardware and licensing budget needs.
  • Guide team efforts in ensuring operating systems, firmware, and software packages are up to date.
  • Review and approve process documentation. Ensure team members receive proper training on processes.
  • Participate in regular system restoration tests.
  • Ensure adequate, redundant, and balanced virtual computing resources.
  • Standardize, coordinate and provide technology support among all control centers.
  • Ensure regular testing and monitoring of control center environment variables and equipment.
  • Consider alternative courses of action and select the best options according to the intended infrastructure posture.
  • Serve as a backup level 2 support contact for resolving issues.
  • Guide team members in understanding the impact of infrastructure and business decisions on the enterprise.

What We're Looking For:

Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in an applicable area OR equivalent education and experience of a high school diploma/GED and two (2) years of relevant experience in an applicable area or certification in an applicable area. Applicable areas defined as: IT/OT System Administration, IT/OT Application Support, Cyber Security, ADMS/DMS/EMS/OMS/SCADA. Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred / advanced degree is an added plus.

Experience: In addition to any experience included in education requirements above, must have eight (8) years or applicable experience with five (5) years domain experience in a related role.

Licenses/Certifications: CompTIA A+ or other Computer Science certification strongly preferred.

Experience with procurement through Maximo and ServiceNow preferred.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing highly complex efforts.
  • Demonstrated expert-level understanding of physical and virtual computing infrastructure.
