Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced sales manager to join our team and drive our capital sales efforts across North America.

As the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading and executing our capital sales strategy within the food sector, ensuring that we meet and exceed our revenue targets. You will play a strategic role in developing relationships with key stakeholders, managing a high-performing sales team, and driving growth through innovative sales techniques and solutions. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of excellence and motivating your team to achieve outstanding results.

Location Remote mostly but will need to go into the Springfield, IL office from time to time (maybe monthly/quarterly) so within some commuting range of this.

Our Team
The Food Sales Team represents PerkinElmer's portfolio of Perten instrumentation including near-infrared, mid-infrared, process NIR, and rheology, calling on food and grain processors and manufacturers. The ideal candidate will manage a team of sales representatives throughout the US and Canada. We are asking that the individual be highly motivated, have experience with capital sales management, and have strong leadership skills. Ideally, the candidate will have at least five years of sales management experience related to capital equipment to food customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong, working technical knowledge of the portfolio of products serving the food and grain markets.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue goals for capital sales of lab instruments in the food industry.
  • Lead and mentor a team of sales professionals, providing direction, support, and training to maximize their potential and performance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders, and distribution partners across North America.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and customer support teams to ensure alignment of sales objectives with overall company goals.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, preparing regular reports for senior management to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote our brand and explore new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative and willingness to take ownership of results.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years capital sales experience, with a focus on capital sales in the food industry or laboratory instruments.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving significant revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in building and managing high-performing sales teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with clients and partners.
  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to inform sales strategies and decision-making.
  • Competitive nature and proven track record of consistent sales achievement.
  • Proficiency working at the highest levels within customer organizations is critical (President/CEO, CTO/CSO and CFO and other key influencers)
  • Thorough understanding of business factors effecting account's profitability and competitive status.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and industry events.
  • Must possess and maintain driver's license.

Preferred Characteristics

  • 5+ years of experience in sales management, with a focus on capital sales in the food industry or laboratory instruments.

The annualcompensation range for this full-time position is $140.000.00 to $170,000.00 plus 33% commission. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
