Do you love the challenge of keeping a complex network running smoothly while ensuring the "magic of television" never misses a beat-even from a distance? We're looking for a Broadcast IT Engineer to join our team at KTTC and KBJR. This isn't just about fixing computers; it's about owning the digital backbone of our stations and ensuring our content reaches our audience across every platform, from the big screen to the smartphone.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
What You'll Do:
Architect the network: Install and maintain the computer systems and network infrastructure that power our daily operations.
Bridge the gap: Work closely with our engineering team to implement and maintain "crossover" systems that blend traditional Audio/Video with modern IT infrastructure.
Power the production: Support and maintain the automation systems that keep our On-Air and Live Production running without a hitch.
Guard the gates: Aid in the implementation of robust computer and network security policies to keep our data and broadcasts safe.
Keep us current: Manage software licensing and ensure all systems are updated and optimized for peak performance.
Support the mission: Act as one of the primary points of contact for corporate IT and help maintain our internal trouble ticket system, supporting everyone from News and Production to Sales.
Go where the action is: Provide technical assistance for remote broadcasts, ensuring our team can deliver high-quality content from anywhere.
Qualifications/Requirements:
What You Bring:
Advanced IT chops: You have a deep understanding of VM systems and Windows Active Directory management.
Broadcast brain: You understand the inner workings of a broadcast facility and how IT integrates with A/V equipment.
Problem-solving prowess: You can troubleshoot computers down to the board level and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
Digital-first mindset: You understand that in today's world, serial and IP communication are the lifeblood of media.
Cool under pressure: You thrive in high-stress situations (because news never stops) and can handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
The right credentials: You have an Associate's Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field (or higher).
Proven experience: You bring at least 2 years of experience with Windows OS, e-mail systems, FTP servers, and TCP/IP networking.
Collaborative spirit: You're a team player who can work closely with Chief Engineers, Department Heads, and Corporate IT to get the job done.
Why You'll Love It Here:
Innovation at scale: You'll be working with Gray Media, a company that's leading the way in digital-first local media.
Real impact: Your work directly enables our teams to tell the stories that matter to our communities in Duluth and Rochester.
Flexibility and trust: While this role supports local stations, the remote nature allows you to work with autonomy while staying deeply connected to the team.
Growth opportunities: We invest in our people, providing the tools and support you need to stay at the top of your game.
