IT Technical Administrator Intern - Part Time

About the Internship

Prospira America Corporation is seeking an IT Technical Administrator Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting technology in a manufacturing environment. This internship provides an opportunity for a student interested in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or a related field to apply classroom knowledge while learning from experienced IT professionals.

The intern will assist with day-to-day technical support, computer hardware and software, printers, barcode equipment, networking, and troubleshooting.

What You Will Learn and Do

Under the direction of the IT team, the intern may assist with:

  • Installing and upgrading computer hardware and software.
  • Setting up and maintaining computers and other end-user equipment.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on computers, printers, and barcode terminals.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting computer, telephone, barcode terminal, and printer issues.
  • Learning basic network installation and network wiring.
  • Assisting with software and hardware inventory and documentation.
  • Helping ensure computers receive required antivirus updates and security definitions.
  • Documenting technical support activities in the company helpdesk system.
  • Assisting IT team members with technology projects and upgrades.
  • Learning about IT systems and technology used in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working with other Technical Administrators and IT personnel to resolve technical issues.
  • Following established IT procedures, security practices, and best practices.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a high school, technical school, community college, college, or university program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in Information Technology.
  • Basic knowledge of computers, hardware, software, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently while also being willing to ask questions and learn from experienced IT professionals.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Windows computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts.
  • Experience with printers or multifunction devices.
  • Exposure to Linux/UNIX, barcode systems, ERP/MRP systems, or helpdesk software.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or similar coursework or certifications.
