GENERAL DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DUTIES:This position is responsible for maintaining and supporting the information technology equipment for Government Access Television (GOVACTV). Makes recommendations for the operation of computers, software, broadcast-related IT equipment, and digital media technologies to support television production and administrative operations. This position assists staff with hardware, software, audiovisual, and broadcast-related technology to ensure reliable daily operations. The specialist works under the supervision of lead GOVAC-TV personnel and supports the agency's mission by maintaining secure, dependable, and efficient technology services.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provides first-level technical support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment. Installs, configures, and maintains Windows-based computer systems and standard office software. Supports network connectivity, including wired and wireless devices. Installs software updates, security patches, and antivirus protection. Maintains inventory of IT hardware, software licenses, and technology assets. Assists with the setup and support of audiovisual equipment used for television production, meetings, and live events. Supports digital video editing workstations, storage devices, and file-sharing systems. Performs basic preventive maintenance on computer equipment and related technology. Assists with planning and implementing new technology projects and infrastructure improvements. Supports live broadcasts and special events by ensuring the availability and reliability of technical systems. Perform other technology-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting. Good ability in written and oral communication. Good knowledge of software such as Office 365, Microsoft Teams and other cloud-based software and applications. Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good ability to work well in a group setting. Good ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, superiors, vendors and the general public. Good ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, plus one (1) year of experience performing information technology related work, or an equivalent combination of experience and training substituting on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Hours may vary and frequently include evenings. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
