As of Jun 28, 2026, the average yearly pay for informatics in Utah is $89,588.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $63,700.00 and $111,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How does an informatics professional typically collaborate with other departments in a healthcare setting?

Informatics professionals in healthcare frequently work alongside clinicians, IT staff, and administrative teams to implement and optimize electronic health record systems, improve data workflows, and ensure compliance with regulations. They often serve as a bridge between technical teams and end users, translating technical requirements into practical solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Regular cross-functional meetings and project-based collaborations are common, making strong communication and teamwork skills essential for success in this role.

What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

Informatics professionals typically do not reach $500,000 annual salaries, but high-paying roles such as chief information officers (CIOs), chief technology officers (CTOs), and senior data executives can earn this level or more, especially with extensive experience, leadership responsibilities, and advanced skills in data management, cybersecurity, or healthcare IT. These roles often require advanced degrees, certifications, and a track record of strategic decision-making in large organizations.

What degree is needed for informatics?

Informatics professionals typically need at least a bachelor's degree in fields such as computer science, information technology, health informatics, or related areas. Advanced roles may require a master's degree or specialized certifications in health informatics, data management, or cybersecurity.

What can you do with an informatics degree?

An informatics degree prepares individuals for roles such as health informatics specialists, data analysts, systems analysts, and IT project managers. Graduates often work in healthcare, technology, or research environments, utilizing skills in data management, programming, and information systems to improve processes and decision-making.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Informatics Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Informatics Specialist, you need expertise in data analysis, information systems, and domain-specific knowledge, often supported by a degree in informatics, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like SQL, Python, EHR systems, and relevant certifications such as Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional (CHISP) are commonly required. Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help bridge gaps between technical teams and stakeholders. These abilities are crucial for transforming data into actionable insights and optimizing technology solutions in various industries.
