Position Purpose

This position acts as a leader in strategic thinking regarding the use of information technologies by providers and support staff resulting in clinical workflows promoting efficiency and Renown Health initiatives. Executes as support in the implementation of technologies, which improve clinical decision-making and enhances the care delivery processes executed by providers regardless of venue. Serves as a specialist who translates business problems and requirements into information requirements and systems. Specific responsibilities will be focused on systems and processes supporting operational and decision support systems.

Nature and Scope

The incumbent in this position has superior knowledge or demonstrated aptitude for learning the features and optimal use of the electronic health record and including specialty-specific workflows of providers and support staff.

Individual will work with clinical and operation leadership in the development of provider and support staff workflows, EHR enhancements, provider requests and assist with dissemination of new information and strategies. They will adhere to project and training plan timelines. They will maintain a familiarity with the installed applications in order to provide ongoing education and direction in the effective use and continued growth of the electronic medical record.

SUMMARY:

• Individual demonstrates proficiency or ability to learn and demonstrate optimal use of the EHR system and other systems utilized by providers and support staff.

• Fundamental understanding of provider and support staff workflows and demonstrated ability to learn and model ideal workflows.

• Works with site leaders to ensure clinical staff have appropriate workflow knowledge to do their job upon hire.

• Support new and current providers with EHR set-up and workflows established by leadership.

• Support provider-support staff teams to ensure both parties are aware of appropriate workflows and expectations to improve clinic efficiency and advance Renown Health initiatives.

• Work with Information Technology (IT) EHR Trainers to optimize Epic training for new providers. To include review and update of Tip Sheets so they remain current and relevant to providers and support staffs.

• Work with Informatics Liaison as a support staff, in a clinical setting, intermittently throughout the month to maintain clinical skills and understanding of workflows.

• Individual would assist in any non-IT provider classes and provide one-on-one training as needed,. Additionally, individual will round with providers regularly and as needed to review new and existing workflows and answer any related questions.

• Attend meetings deemed appropriate by leadership (i.e. Support staff, Provider Meetings, Webinars, etc.) so that all aspects of provider-support staff team workflow is understood.

• Facilitate and coordinate department Webinar series and department meetings to include prepping agendas, handouts, PowerPoints, maintaining schedule and running Webinar reports.

• Support providers identified by leadership in need of workflow assistance for regulatory measures.

• Serve as the contact, in addition to Informatics Liaison, for ancillary services (e.g. IT, coding, lab, imaging, contact center, operations leadership) when discrepancies, opportunities or other issues arise regarding clinical workflows.

• Any other duties as assigned.

4. Participate in data gathering, workflow documentation and process/practice redesign efforts.

13. Maintain workflow guides for assigned Medical Group departments.

14. Work schedule flexibility required as training and support may be required on weekends and during evening.

15. Recommended to obtain and maintain electronic medical record product certification.

16. Almost a sales approach to training and dealing with providers and support staff; a champion of change.

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Bachelor’s degree in education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management or Healthcare information related field preferred but not required.

Experience:

Minimum three years ambulatory clinic work related experience. Experience with an electronic medical record product required. Training of a technology that fundamentally changed clinical practice preferred. Applicants with healthcare experience will receive preference.

License(s):

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.

Certification(s):

Electronic Medical Record Ambulatory certification preferred. Current AHA BLS/CPR required. Applicants that have Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or EMT certification will be given preference.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Type 30-60 WPM
