Design and Analysis Engineers (Experienced, Lead and Senior)**Sign-On Bonus Potential**

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking a broad range of experience levels including Experienced, Lead and Senior Level Avionics Systems Engineers to join our Commercial Modifications Engineering team in Long Beach, California.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the development and maintenance of electronic and electrical product details, system architecture, hardware/software designs, and interface specifications, assembly, installation designs, and test/validation for a diverse range of commercial aircraft, from the McDonnell Douglas MD series to the state-of-the-art Boeing 777X.

In this dynamic position, you will leverage your expertise to design and implement electronic and electrical solutions that enhance aircraft capabilities and operational efficiency. You will work on projects that involve retrofitting existing aircraft with advanced embedded and connectivity systems or the latest interior accommodations, all with the goal of optimizing electrical systems and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies.

Your contributions will directly impact on the comfort of passengers, and the performance and reliability of aircraft, enabling our customers to maintain competitive advantages in the aviation market.

In addition to technical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to engage with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders, understand customer unique operational challenges, and provide tailored solutions that enhance customer fleet's capabilities. This customer-centric approach is essential in fostering long-term relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical installations and subsystems (equipment racks, power panels, cable routing, antenna configurations) from requirements through release
  • Produce and maintain detailed designs, drawings, and BOMs for cable and wire-harness assemblies and associated electrical hardware
  • Collaborate and consult with customers and suppliers to refine and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements and interfaces
  • Translate requirements into system architecture and clear hardware/software interface specifications
  • Review and validate supplier technical data and deliverables to ensure proper system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Lead and execute test, verification, and validation activities to confirm designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Lead technical support and troubleshooting for in-service systems at customer and modification sites
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in an agile environment, using contemporary tools and design methods to deliver solutions
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure integration and compliance with requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design quality, manufacturability, and efficiency
  • Research relevant innovative emerging technologies for potential application and business needs, and recommend improvements or technology investments to support project goals
  • Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures (e.g. DO-160, DO-178Cand D6 requirements), including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 3+ years of experience reading, understanding, and interpreting basic engineering drawings and specifications
  • 3+ years of experience using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering tools and/or other design methods (e.g., CAD/CAM , CATIA, Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics, ect.)
  • 3+ years of experience with equipment design, specification and tests, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g. RTCA DO-160 and DO-178C)
  • Experience installing aircraft modifications to include fabricating and installing aircraft electrical system wiring, connectors, electrical components or avionics box
  • 3+ years of full-time aerospace industry experience within Avionics, Electrical, Software, Cabin Systems, Inflight Entertainment Systems, Connectivity systems or Electro-Magnetic Effects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
  • 10+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
  • Visualizes complex systems and their interrelationships, foresees the implications of design or process changes, and applies systems-thinking principles to accelerate decision-making and performance
  • Ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources to show compliance
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design)
  • Exercises engineering judgment in developing appropriate decisions considering decision criteria, implications, and possible consequences, to ensure product design integrity. Demonstrates understanding of the applicable scientific and engineering knowledge and involves others in obtaining information for the engineering decision-making process
  • 1+ years of experience in a role which required knowledge of MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, DO-178, IEC-61000, and / or FCC part 15
  • 1+ years of experience leading an integrated product team of engineers, supplier management and quality specialists, and certification experts through the design and delivery of certified hardware
  • Experience with Equipment Manager responsibilities for electrical components
