Job Description:
The Dental Assistant supports patient care services within a dental clinic environment, providing chairside assistance and clinical support in accordance with public health dental program protocols. This role plays a key part in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate dental care to the community. The position requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to infection control standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform four-handed chairside dental assisting and provide in-operatory support to dental staff
  • Take and record vital signs, prescribed dental radiographs, and intraoral photographs
  • Document patient diagnoses in Dentrix electronic dental records as dictated by the dentist
  • Prepare operatories for dental procedures, including barrier placement, instrument setup, and material selection
  • Perform infection control, instrument sterilization, and routine preventive maintenance of dental equipment
  • Provide oral hygiene and post-operative instructions to patients under dentist guidance and participate in community outreach events promoting oral health
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of dental radiography and electronic dental records (Dentrix preferred)
  • Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization procedures
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Professional demeanor with excellent patient communication skills
