THE POSITION

This role sits within the firm's Enterprise Strategy Office, which reports into the CEO, and is primarily aligned with the Firm & Product Strategy function. This function serves as the firm's center of excellence for industry and competitive insights, supporting strategic projects across the firm, and is responsible for product and fund development and product prioritization.

The Competitive Intelligence and Market Research Lead will play an important role in shaping Wellington's product strategy and positioning. This individual will leverage competitive insights to inform product development, guide fund prioritization, and partner with product management and sales teams to optimize how our products are positioned in the marketplace. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for data-driven industry research, knowledge of the asset management industry and its key data providers such as eVestment, Broadridge and Morningstar, a collaborative working style, a commercial mindset, and a strong desire to grow and learn.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Maintain a rich understanding of industry trends, competitor strategies, client needs, and regulatory developments across asset classes
  • Own and manage Wellington's relationships with industry research and data vendors. Manage our portfolio of tools and data by monitoring new capabilities and recommending purchase and usage
  • Broadly distribute market and competitor insights through the development of new management reporting as well as ad hoc communications
  • Support critical management decision making through custom analysis and thought partnership
    • Inform product development and fund prioritization through competitive intelligence and market analysis
    • Develop frameworks and processes to support product launch decisions and ongoing prioritization
    • Identify opportunities to scale and enhance Wellington's product and fund platform
  • Partner with Product Managers and Portfolio Advisors to develop compelling product and fund positioning informed by competitor knowledge
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation talent within the CPS function through mentorship and apprenticeship

THE PERSON

  • The ideal candidate will have:
  • 6-12+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of the asset management industry. Likely including experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, product management, competitive intelligence and/or industry research
  • Ability to translate complex strategic questions into specific and actionable analysis
  • A commercial mindset and strong track record of collaborative leadership
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver strategic insights
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Comfort operating in a consensus-driven environment
  • A passion for developing talent and fostering innovation
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and incomplete information

At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry.We strive to pay employees fairly and competitively across all levels and roles. Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 90,000 - 180,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salaryis only one component of Wellington's total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible. In addition, we offer a comprehensive and high value benefit package to meet the unique needs of our employees and their families, and we are committed to fostering a flexible work environment that enables employees to thrive personally and professionally.
