Job Description
At Nordstrom, we strive for engineering excellence and the Industrial Engineer 2, Supply Chain contributes to that by applying industrial engineering discipline on both established and new processes, systems, and equipment. This person will partner with our Supply Chain Operations leadership and associates within fulfillment centers (FCs) and Distribution Centers (DCs) and should have industry intelligence to provide creative solutions for process improvement and automation to further simplify work flows and operations.
A day in the life
  • Collects data and performs complex data analysis to understand current state conditions that will be used to drive continuous improvement ideas, capacity analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and change initiatives and projects

  • Leverages continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) to optimize, lead, and provide supply chain solutions for current and future operations for small to medium (<$250k) scope projects

  • Performs time and motion studies, has experience with predetermined time systems (e.g., MOST, MSD, MTM), indirect time, & PF&D. Detects gaps between observed time and labor standards, and develops key insights to improve productivity

  • Leads Standard Work efforts in collaboration with operations and continuous improvement teams

  • Develops knowledge of distribution and fulfillment best practices and engineering standards. Leverages best practices and engineering standards in the development and deployment of solutions

  • Creates and delivers AutoCAD Layout for moderately scaled space planning and process design

  • Analyze and evaluate methods for optimal operations. Outlines alternatives for processes, equipment, and system design

  • Develops a level of understanding to work with technical documentation, including architectural, mechanical, electrical and software to assess designs and issues as required, with guidance from supervisor

  • Works with operations, product management, and other business partners to deliver data driven solutions

  • Utilizes project management methodologies to manage medium complexity projects

  • Develops skills in discrete simulation and capacity analysis

  • Minimum of 3 years' Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Experience

  • Prior experience with Supply Chain Distribution/Fulfillment (e-Com) environment desired

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering

  • AutoCAD, simulation, and SQL query experience highly desired

  • Strong understanding and application of end-to-end Industrial Engineering discipline, processes, and tools

  • Experience interacting and communicating clearly/concisely with senior leadership

$87,500.00 - $145,500.00 Annual
