Job description

The Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Lead is responsible for the operation, security, reliability, and modernization of industrial control systems supporting critical infrastructure at Al Udeid Air Base. This role provides technical leadership for SCADA, PLC, and building automation systems that support power generation and distribution, water/wastewater, fuel systems, HVAC, and other mission-critical utilities. The ICS Lead serves as the primary authority for ICS architecture, cybersecurity, compliance, and lifecycle management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervisory & Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and mentor ICS/HVAC control technicians
  • Assign daily tasks, manage shift schedules, and prioritize work orders
  • Conduct performance evaluations and enforce safety and quality standards
  • Coordinate with base civil engineering, operations, and IT/cybersecurity teams

Technical & Operational

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of HVAC control systems, BAS, and SCADA platforms
  • Ensure continuous operation of mission-critical systems including data centers, command facilities, and aircraft support buildings
  • Diagnose complex control system issues and lead troubleshooting and corrective actions
  • Review and approve control logic, sequences of operation, and system modifications
  • Manage system upgrades, expansions, and integration of new equipment
  • Maintain system documentation, network diagrams, and asset inventories
  • Enforce access control, configuration management, and change management procedures

Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Enforce OSHA, Air Force, and host-nation safety standards
  • Conduct system inspections, preventive maintenance reviews, and quality audits
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, energy management, and sustainability requirements

Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, and system performance metrics
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers
  • Support emergency response and after-hours troubleshooting as required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience specializing in ICS
  • Master Operator Training in Building Automation Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and BAS platforms.
  • Experience working in secure, mission-critical, or industrial environments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
