Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Individual Giving Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with individual donors and prospects to increase philanthropic support for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. This position manages a portfolio of donors and donor prospects, implementing strategic cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and engagement activities to strengthen donor relationships and grow annual and major gift revenue.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Resource Development, the Individual Giving Officer works collaboratively with Resource Development staff, organizational leadership, board members, and volunteers to advance individual giving goals and foster long-term donor investment in the mission.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
  • Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors with the capacity and inclination to make meaningful and aspirational gifts.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors, utilizing moves management strategies to deepen engagement and increase giving.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors capable of making annual, leadership, and major gifts.
  • Develop and implement personalized donor engagement plans aligned with donors' interests and organizational priorities.
  • Conduct donor outreach through meetings, calls, emails, events, and mission-centered experiences.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling gift proposals and solicitations, with a focus on securing meaningful philanthropic investments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of donor interactions, action plans, gift activity, and relationship progress within the CRM system.
  • Partner with Resource Development colleagues to coordinate donor stewardship activities, recognition opportunities, and special events.
  • Collaborate with board members, volunteer leaders, and senior staff to support donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of annual giving and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure a high-quality donor experience by providing responsive, thoughtful stewardship and ongoing communication.
  • Coordinate with the Fundraising Database Specialist to ensure accurate gift processing, documentation, and reporting.
  • Represent the organization at community events, donor meetings, and engagement activities as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in individual or major gift fundraising, with demonstrated results in relationship-based giving.
  • Experience managing donor portfolios and developing personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and donor data management, with Raiser's Edge experience preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with diverse donors, board members, and community leaders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to contribute to both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support donor engagement activities.
