A Brief Summary of This Position:

This position reports directly to the North America Water Delivery Manager and assists in the execution of proper design, education and water application methods and procedures as well as the management of orders for water application products. With the goal of enhancing the sale of water application products, the incumbent supports internal personnel, domestic, international, and North American dealers in relation to the application of Valmont-supplied water application products. The incumbent designs, quotes, schedules, monitors accuracy and follows executes Valmont sprinkler sales order. The Water Application Specialist strives to meet individual customer/dealer needs while retaining the highest level of product excellence. Terrain, soil, climate, and water information is collected from the growers by dealers, and this is used to coach dealers in designing the appropriate sprinkler package for the field. The Water Application Specialist ensures that all sprinkler package sales orders are processed correctly assisting both the Order Mangers and Sales department as needed. The employee is continually communicating with the dealers and growers as well as Engineers, Territory, Order, and Product Mangers regarding aspects of sprinkler package design, development, pricing, invoicing, delivery, training, service and warranties. The incumbent provides water application technical support for all of North America Valmont’s distribution centers which is vital to the growth of Valmont’s water application business.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist dealers and internal personnel in the use of the VChart sprinkler program via phone, email, or online applications
  • Ensures that all sprinkler package sales orders are processed correctly assisting both the Order Mangers and Sales department as needed
  • Promptly respond to all phone calls and emails from external and internal customers regarding water application and sprinkler related requests
  • Accept, review, schedule and execute all Valmont aftermarket sprinkler sales order not submitted by the dealers through V2O
  • Provide order status and availability of Valmont sprinkler parts sales for Valmont’s dealer distribution network
  • Advise Valley dealers of needed information relevant to both current and past Valley sprinkler products
  • Use Valmont application systems VParts, and VChart to submit sprinkler parts and sprinkler package orders and route them appropriately
  • Resolve requests for shortages or errors in shipments within the assigned product area
  • Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job
  • Communicate regularly with the dealers and growers as well as the internal Engineers, Territory, Order, and Product Mangers regarding aspects of sprinkler package design, development, pricing, invoicing, delivery, training, service and warranties
  • Prepare and conduct educational programs for growers, dealers and other stakeholders concerning Valmont sprinkler products and their application
  • Identify issues and potential solutions to improve Valmont’s sprinkler business
  • Create bulletins to inform Valley dealers and internal personnel of new sprinkler and water application products and changes to the Valley sprinkler product line.
  • Develop information for improving the skills of dealership sales personnel
  • Develop promotional material to help drive dealer growth and sales
  • Identify changes to the VChart sprinkler program and setting priorities to the ones that need to be dealt with first
  • This position reports into the North America Water Delivery Manager and has no direct reports and no indirect reports.
  • This role requires up to 10% travel in the United States and Canada, including overnight stays.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Participate as a team member in yearly Valmont growth initiatives
  • Create and maintains information that can be used in Webinars or Valley University training modules
  • Run the CPED report program used to validate sprinkler package designs purchased by end users with funds from the federal EQIP cost share program, communicating sprinkler package and water application design concepts to federal agency personnel in the EQIP cost share program upon request

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

  • Preferred Bachelors with 3+ years relevant experience or associate’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience or 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge regarding soil/water principles, sprinkler knowledge, application of sprinkler products as well as design characteristics of a sprinkler package
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision, using sound judgment in solving unique problems
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license
  • The ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the year
  • The ability to gather appropriate information concerning field terrain, soil types, water source, water delivery methods, crops grown and irrigation management methods
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CID (Certified Irrigation Designer) accreditation
  • Professional work experience with sprinklers, center pivots, linears, or other types of  water application
  • A strong working knowledge of water hydraulic principles associated with sprinkler packages
  • Work experience with dealer or dealership organizations
  • 2+ years of relevant Agricultural work experience
