As a company, we constantly challenge whatโ€™s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional purchasing professionals to drive value across our indirect spend categories. The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of construction purchasing and strategic sourcing, including construction labor, materials, equipment, contractors, subcontractors, and facilities-related services. Responsibilities

  • Sourcing: Develop and execute multi-year category strategies, pipelines, and procurement roadmaps for design, construction, and facilities spend related to the build out of service centers, retail spaces, workplace, and fast charging sites. • Negotiations: Negotiate and manage NDAs, Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, and change orders. Lead commercial negotiations regarding pricing, payment terms, warranties, schedule, liability, indemnification, and risk allocation. Partner with Legal, Risk, Safety, and Finance to ensure full contract compliance and auditable decision-making.

  • Supplier Management: Establish performance expectations and KPIs (cost, schedule, quality, compliance) and conduct periodic business reviews. Monitor contractor capacity, supply market health, and lead times; implement risk mitigation plans for potential disruptions. Build a resilient, competitive supplier portfolio across key regions of the United States and Canada.

  • Stakeholder Management: Partner cross-functionally (Construction, Facilities, Engineering, Real Estate) to translate project scopes, specifications, and budgets into clear procurement requirements.

  • Project Management & Risk Mitigation: Oversee procurement of general contractors, specialty trades, labor, building materials. Lead bid-leveling, scope/spec reviews, and delivery-model decisions; track procurement milestones to proactively resolve supplier issues and project risks.

  • Data Analysis: Perform spend, should-cost, bid-normalization, and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) analyses. Track and report sourcing savings, cost avoidance, and budget impacts using standard procurement methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience is required; 3+ years in construction purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management; 3+ years negotiating commercial agreements for construction, facilities materials/services, or contractors.

  • Domain Expertise: Experience supporting large-scale industrial, automotive, manufacturing, energy, or tech facility builds.

  • Commodityโ€‘Specific Experience: Handsโ€‘on experience running competitive sourcing events and contract negotiations.

  • Sound knowledge of construction labor markets, materials, contractor practices, and facilities services.

  • Strong understanding of construction commercial controls, insurance requirements, change order processes, and claims management.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with procurement/ERP software (Coupa), Google Suite, Jira.

  • Communication: Strong commercial judgment and ability to influence stakeholders and suppliers through dataโ€‘driven recommendations.

  • Execution: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
