SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Wellness Center Director and in collaboration with clinical staff when appropriate, develops, implements, and evaluates exercise programs for members. Supervises daily exercise and ensures safe and appropriate exercise programs through assessment and evaluation to achieve the participant’s goals.

STATUS: Part-Time

LOCATION: UMMC - Tonawanda Seneca Family Care Center - 372 Bloomingdale Rd, Suite 2, Akron, NY 14001

DEPARTMENT: Wellness & Physical Therapy

SCHEDULE: Flexible - weekdays

JOB SUMMARY:

The Exercise Physiologist will also provide continuous education and guidance to the patient and family in phases III and IV of cardiac rehabilitation with regard to risk factor notification and the rehabilitative process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides an overview of equipment, classes, amenities, and general Fitness Center guidelines to all new Fitness Center members.

  • Assists with new member registration, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and filed.

  • Registers members for classes and tracks attendance and availability to ensure appropriate class sizes.

  • Maintains all Fitness Center areas and equipment in a clean, working, and orderly manner.

  • Works with members to develop personal training programs determined by individuals’ goals and evaluation of individuals’ needs and abilities. Observes participants’ progress and adjusts programs as needed.

  • Guides members in the use of facilities and equipment, explaining and enforcing safety guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. ​

  • Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or a healthcare-related field preferred

  • Prior experience in exercise therapy or a healthcare-related field is preferred ​
