River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies; River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products from warehouses in Syracuse, NY.


Job Description:

The Inbound Scheduler is responsible for managing inbound and outbound carrier appointments across multiple distribution facilities. This role ensures efficient dock scheduling, optimizes facility throughput, and serves as the primary point of contact for carriers and internal teams regarding delivery and pickup coordination.

The position is full-time and will be located at our Syracuse, NY office. The Inbound Logistics Coordinator reports to the Logistics Manager.


Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

Wages:

  • $22.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary point of contact for carriers regarding appointments and dock availability.
  • Schedule inbound carrier appointments across 4 warehouses in the region.
  • Maintain dock calendars and ensure balanced daily/weekly capacity utilization.
  • Prioritize appointments based on urgency, product type, and operational constraints.
  • Communicate any transportation delays or disruptions to the Operations and Purchasing Teams.
  • Work with the River Valley transportation team to schedule and coordinate backhauls.
  • Coordinate and schedule vendor and customer outbound pickups as needed.
  • Track KPIs including on-time delivery performance, carrier wait times/detention, dock utilization.
  • Identify trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Work with the Logistics Manager and Coordinator roles to understand and assist with carrier designation and routing for inbound loads.
  • Perform various administrative tasks as needed to support the transportation and logistics teams.


Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred but not required
  • 3 or more years’ experience in coordinating LTL and Trailer Load freight
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
